Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct responsibility for the safety of all employees assigned to his/her department
  • Overall Responsibility for product safety and product quality
  • Responsible for developing and implementing quality initiatives
  • Overall management of Q.A. inspection, testing, auditing and process review
  • Develop and maintain vendor partnerships to ensure continuous improvement in quality and cost of service in components
  • Coordinate and manage regulatory inspections ( USDA, FDA, regional/state health inspectors)
  • Provides leadership and vision to progress the efforts of TPM in the plant and office by serving as Quality Pillar Champion
  • Develop and manage annual departmental budget

The Successful Applicant Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Food Science, Biology or related field. Masters degree is preferred.Certification in Basic Thermal Processing, Better Process School and Food Safety Defense
  • Prior experience in Quality Assurance and Food Safety with working knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems
  • Ability to work internally and with corporate and third party groups in an effective manner
  • Must be capable of using strategic influence to gain support for desired process changes; functions as a business partner with the plant leadership
  • Meet annual objectives to reduce losses due to stops, accidents and waste through effective Continuous Improvement practices
  • Good level of oral and written communication
  • Ability to work internally and with corporate, regulatory and third party groups in a positive manner.
  • Systems management approach to maintain clear direction for the entire associate team through well-developed policies and guidelines and proper employee training
  • Strategic influence to gain support for desired process changes; functions as a business partner with the plant leadership
  • Experience with high speed food manufacturing, processing, bottling with knowledge of FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP, Acidified and Low Acid Canned Food, thermal processing, is preferred
