Assists operating room, labor and delivery, cath lab, clinic, and nursing unit staff by providing properly cleaned and sterilized instruments for surgical cases.
Job Responsibilities
Receives, cleans, distributes and stores patient care equipment and surgical instruments.
Ensures timely delivery of instrumentation to surgery, cath lab, labor and delivery, as well as numerousoutside clinics.
Operates all cleaning and sterilizing equipment following regulation directives.
Cleans, assembles and maintains specific patient care equipment utilized throughout the facility following allmanufacturers’ instructions.
Cleans and assembles complex instrument sets following manufacturers’ instructions to ensure infectioncontrol practices are followed.
Communicates with the OR team concerning the status of instrumentation to be used throughout the day.
Maintains a sufficient inventory of all surgical instruments and analyses needs based on surgical scheduleneeds.
Performs all required quality assurance tests and maintains daily records for all cleaning and sterilizationequipment in compliance with accrediting bodies.
Prepares case carts with surgical instruments for scheduled and emergent cases.

Education
High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required. Graduate of an accredited Central
Sterile Processing or Surgical Technologist program preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Certified and Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM), Centrail Supply Processing Department Technician (CSPDT) from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD), or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
Work Experience
None required. At least 1 year experience in a related clinical position preferred.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be
able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
