Job Description

We currently have an opening for a Production Technical Assistant at our Warrick, IN location.
Under the directions of the Production Superintendent, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring safety, productivity, quality, improved recovery, reliable and consistent delivery performance, and rapid problem solving in a planned and unplanned cost-effective, customer centric environment. Theses business objective are accomplished in accordance with the principles of the Alcoa Business System within the framework of the 7 stability tools, teaching and coaching employees in a manner that moves the organization toward accomplishing the target condition. This position supports Production Superintendent.

Major activities include, but are not limited to:

  • The incumbent will take a leadership role in promoting and practicing Alcoa Business System concepts within his/her span of control and responsibility. This includes but is not limited to promoting kaizens through leading and coaching events, coaching PSA3 efforts in the area actively engaging hourly and salary employees, support and ownership of DM systems at key process centers, promoting department suggestion systems, and driving area TPM champions to make measurable gains in equipment condition in progress toward a visual factory. Be a cultural change agent and build ownership and engagement by using the ABS tools.
  • Recognizes that accident and injury prevention is greater in importance to production, quality, delivery, recovery and cost control. The incumbent accepts the responsibility to work safely and promote safety consciousness among other employees making employee safety contacts in an HP environment and supporting crew leader III investigations.
  • The incumbent shall take such steps to assure that all employment practices under his or her control, including hiring, promotions, demotions, and discipline are conducted so as to comply with equal employment opportunity laws and Alcoa company policy.
  • Work closely with the Planning and Logistics Department to support inventory flow and delivery performance goals for the department and location.
  • Produce operating results in alignment with the Department business plan (A3) through the coaching of crew leaders and hourly employees with an emphasis on safety, quality, cost control, production, recovery, and delivery performance. Must be proficient with A3 tools and methodology.
  • Ensure all crew members have clear and specific work instructions (SWIs) with all current training in compliance with QS requirements, and formulate and assign daily tasks within guidelines established by department management.
  • Advance the business objectives regarding quality and recovery in support of area goals and objective and provide system support, including, but not limited to SWIs, ICC, VPM, and Statistical Techniques.
  • Ensure a vertical alignment on all cost control initiatives in the areas of energy, supplies, utilities, and labor to support plant financial goals and assist management with developing and executing the department budget plan. Qualifications

A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
3 Years of industrial production or maintenance experience
2 Years supervisory experience is required.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical Degree (2 year)
Knowledge of ABS system stability tools and Oracle software systems (work orders, easy stores, ect.)
