TITLE: Quality Operator

DIVISION: Machining-Comac

DEPARTMENT Operations

REPORTS TO: Group Leaders/Shift Manager

FLSA STATUS:
PAY GRADE: Hourly 12

MISSION: To ensure that customers receive a quality machined die cast product by performing proper inspections of all produced product for defects and proper customer specifications.

ESSENTIAL GOALS, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate machining equipment per specifications

Perform the final inspection/off-line inspection as directed by control plan in a timely manner and ensures the quality of the parts of being shipped.

Perform containment activities per QS3098 upon identification of non-conforming product

Assist in training Machine Line Operators on the proper operation of equipment, record keeping, inspection methods, safe work habits, and minor equipment maintenance.

Verify correct SWAT charts are displayed and legible in all assigned workstations.

Ensure operators in assigned workstations follow instructions as directed by SWAT charts or supervisors and reports any issues to the Group Leader.

Ensure routing tags/labels are properly attached to baskets/skids and all information is correct.

Notify Machine Operator and Group Leader of production stops (i.e. equipment down) in assigned workstations.

Relieve cell team members in assigned workstations for breaks and lunch.

Follow all aspects of Safety as described in GDC Safety Roles and Expectations.

Follow all prescribed safety regulations including the proper use of all required personal protective equipment.

Follow all TS16949 and ISO 14001 guidelines.

Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition according to established Gibbs 7-S Guidelines.

Able to work weekends and overtime as required.

Meet all physical and environmental requirements.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Mathematics: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning and Problem Solving: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software and Manufacturing software.

Other Requirements: Must have successfully completed “What is Quality” and “7S” training (may be part of the New Hire Orientation training for outside candidates). Blueprint Reading, SPC of Tools, Measurement Tools for QC and Gibbs issued “Forklift Truck Operation and Safety” are preferred but not required.
