Position Summary Information
The Children’s Learning Center, in the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana, invites applications for a part-time Pre-School Teacher or Pre-School Assistant Teacher to begin in August 2017. Candidates will be responsible for maintaining a warm and secure environment for the children and parents.
Pre-School Assistant Teacher
This position will assist in the development of appropriate curriculum.
High School diploma/ GED required. A minimum of an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent by 2019 is required at the Assistant Teacher level. Candidates must maintain good classroom control and high educational standards, maintain classroom discipline using appropriate methods, create and maintain portfolios for all children in the classroom for assessment purposes, supervise USI college students and facilitate planning and implementation of projects, as well as establish and maintain effective communication with parents and staff through daily conversations, notes, and conferences. In addition, candidate must maintain a working knowledge of state licensing regulations, NAEYC developmentally appropriate practices and maintain a classroom environment in accordance with these regulations and standards as well as maintain a professional development file.
Assistant Teacher OP1/ $9.30/hr ($9.50/hr post probationary rate)
This position will provide a quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum for each assigned child.
Must meet all qualifications and functional requirements of the Assistant Teacher. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, or Indiana equivalent must be obtained by 2020 at the Teacher level. Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, or Indiana equivalent strongly preferred.
Teacher OP3/ $11.25/hr ($11.48/hr post probationary rate)
