The Family Assistant Center Specialist is responsible for coordinating, facilitating and focusing on needed resources for Army National Guard (ARNG) Service Members and their families through accurate and timely data input into the Family Management Program (FMP) database system required to meet the Family Readiness Standard imperatives, established in National Guard Bureau’s (NGB) Family Assistance Centers (FAC) Program. FAC Specialist is knowledgeable regarding regulations, publications, manuals and local policies. FAC Specialist possesses outstanding communication skills (both written and oral) along with a desire to assist Service Members and their family members with available programs and community referrals.

Primary Functions/Work Responsibilities:
Answer, reference and provide answers to customer questions within 24 hours.
Answer and respond to emergency calls within 4 hours of receipt.
Input data into the Family Management Program (FMP) system within 24 hours for all applicable Service members and conduct follow-up on cases recorded within FMP within 72 hours.
Maintain monthly contact with each deployed/mobilized Service Member’s designated point of contact and input into FMP within 72 hours.
Compose and route correspondence in a timely and accurate manner (within 24 hours).
Gather information, make recommendations for program improvement, synthesize information and provide communication (orally and written) to disseminate information throughout the organization.
Act as a resource to the Family Readiness Group in gathering, collating, maintaining and disseminating information and resources to Service Members and their families.
Coordinate and facilitate support groups, life skill education, and supportive counseling for survivors in coordination with appropriate trained/licensed/certified service providers.
Be familiar with and knowledgeable of regulations, publications, manuals and local policies and procedures to include all applicable Federal, state and local statues, ordinances, laws and regulations (including Presidential Executive Orders).
Attend all National Guard Bureau and contract sponsored Family Assistance trainings offered via face-to-face, Defense Communication System (DCS), Video Teleconference (VTC) or webinar.
Attend annual/quarterly State Family Program required Training.
Complete Initial and Sustainment Training as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
Demonstrate a working knowledge of military well-being programs, family programs, and the deployment support cycle requirements.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Computer literate and proficient in preparing Microsoft Word, Excel, including the ability to create PowerPoint documents and briefings.
Must have excellent oral, written and verbal communication skills.
Possess a current and valid driver’s license.
Must be able to enter US military bases and buildings.Must have the ability to learn new software interfaces quickly.
Willing to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
Ability to pass and maintain any necessary background investigation.
All Family Assistant Specialists will be required to obtain a favorable NACI, which will allow for system access.
Essential Job Requirements:
Minimal supervision and ability to adapt with changing priorities.
Possess proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis on Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
